Percy Pierce Fairy Flyer |
This is one of the oldest, documented paper airplane designs I have come across. By Percy Pierce (read more about him HERE), it comes from an old McCall's Magazine, circa February 1923. It recently came up for bid on Ebay, just the one page, and I did not win. However, the winner, Carole, was a very gracious winner and photocopied the entire page and mailed it to me so that it could be enjoyed by everyone! |
The page is large, so the picture below is a composite of 3 scans. If you click on each, it will take you to each page and you can copy the jpg to print at your leisure. |
I printed it off on ordinary 20lb copy paper stock, and then I used the cardboard off of a pad of paper as the directions suggest. It flies well! My model needed a little bit of tweaking, so don't give up on it. It is a great blast from the past! So grab a copy of this plane, a little light cardboard and a glue stick and take a trip into the golden era of aviation! |
